Movie Star Glam!

by Mari Robeson in

How Glam is this? I've been looking for a headboard for my guest bedroom and found this by Urban Outfitters. I love tufted velvet. Instant movie star glam! Chocolate brown is even more yummy. I'm still not a fan of the avocado green that's made a come back...too many childhood memories of green 2" shag rug that had to be raked and never stepped on... ha ha! But this headboard is fabulous! You can't beat the price on this either. Love it! http://www.urbanoutfitters.com

Time To Pull Out The Good Stuff!

by Mari Robeson in

Before you know it the holidays will be upon us! Time for family and friends and food!!! Did I mention food? Yum!!! I believe in using the good stuff everyday but when the holidays come I believe in creating a divine experience! As a designer, whether I'm laying out a floor plan or laying out a tabletop, it's all about attention to detail. You must start with a fabulous tablecloth and don't even think about using paper napkins...(so you have to do a little extra laundry, when you see the smile on those faces and everyone lingers at the table for hours, it's all worth it). We have to live don't we? It can't all be about work. You know by now I'm Obsessive Compulsive over textiles but you really don't have to spend alot of money to create a magical tabletop. Anthropologie has some very fun choices in table wear, heck everything is fun about Anthropologie...so much so there's even a blog about it. http://www.cravinganthropologie.blogspot.com
So pull out your good stuff because I'll be giving you lots of ideas on what to do with it over the next few weeks! http://www.anthropologie.com

Wall Wonderful!

by Mari Robeson in

Ok, time to really share.... this is one of my favorite websites!!! I was considering using them for my new showroom but I think I've decided to hand paint all my walls...(just because I have so much extra time... ha ha ha!) Anyhow, http://www.WallWords.com has, you guessed it, Wall Words! Quotes that are decals you can apply to your walls. There are lots of great quotes you can purchase with several font choices and colors. You can also have them make your own quote. Have fun with this. What a terrific way to personalize your space!

Bask Home!

by Mari Robeson in

I had the most lovely conversation with the owner of Bask Home last night. I received their beautiful towel sets, rugs, and children's robes and was so impressed with the workmanship that I had to call and tell them so. It was after 6:00 pm and I completely thought I would be leaving a message but to my surprise the owner of the company answered. After sharing with her how impressed I was with my delivery we had a long conversation about being an entrepreneur and following your passion. She was simply delightful! Bask Home is a mother - daughter team. They work with House, Inc. fabrics and do beautiful bath towels, rugs and robes. I'm so excited to support other women in business as well as sharing this luscious product with you. In my eyes it's a win win for us all. http://www.baskhome.com

Hidden Art Shop!

by Mari Robeson in

Fun and innovative... http://www.hiddenartshop.com is a wonderful website that brings the latest and greatest in new design to us all. I get very excited when I find other great individuals promoting designers. This particular piece is an interesting twist on traditional artwork with its "glowing" frame. (Chandelier graphic, a latest favorite of mine if you didn't already know that by now...trendy, I know). Lots of delicious finds on this site!

Make It My Own...

by Mari Robeson in ,

I've been doing a lot of playrooms lately and one thing I always like to incorporate into that type of space is an area for art. The challenge is what type of flooring to use. I'm always looking for fun designs that can wipe up easily. The thing with playrooms is, children grow up. You don't want to invest a great deal on flooring when you'll most likely replace it in a few years. So I came across this clever solution. It's called MIYO flooring. "Make It My Own" flooring. You choose the tiles, colors, and layout. It comes with a grid to help make installation a snap and changes even snappier (hmmm I don't believe that's a word...a new Marism). Durable, colorful, easy to clean, easy to install, and best yet, only $7 a tile. http://www.miyoflooring.com

Chyna Girl!

by Mari Robeson in

I have been blessed with three beautiful and talented little girls who are all amazing artists in their own right. I'm sitting here in my studio with my youngest daughter, Chyna. We scanned in this beautiful painting she did when she was 5 years old. She would like you to know, she is now 6 years old and even more sophisticated with her art. I think she is so magnificent! Original art by Chyna Grace Destiny Robeson, 6 years old, 2006. Priceless!Chyna Girl Art.jpg

House, Inc.!

by Mari Robeson in

I feel very fortunate to have found this beautiful line of bedding, House, Inc., for my new showroom! The color palette is soft and inviting. I especially love the crushed velvet pillows. They're so rich, they look like something you would find on the set of a Marilyn Monroe movie. I'm doing a darling crib set for my girlfriend in Mill Valley with their sweet Cherry Blossom design. (Cherry Blossoms are the symbol of a new beginning, so fitting for a new baby!) I'm looking forward to sharing these lovely linens with you!!! http://www.HouseInc.com

Pine Cone Hill Luscious!

by Mari Robeson in

I think I just threw my back out helping the Fed Ex guy but it's all worth it because I just opened up four of the most delicious boxes from Pine Cone Hill for my new showroom! I have spent a lot of my life obsessing over linens. I'm sure it's genetic because my Grandmother was a textile designer and my mother loves linens as well. I have to admit, I iron my pillow cases... my secrets out. When I knew I was going to open a showroom I knew I had to share this delicious find with everyone. You can order anything you see on their website from my showroom including their unbelievable fleece jammies and robes. (I will have them in in stock but they may go fast!) This is such a fantastic Christmas gift and they are priced great! Can you tell I'm just a little excited! I can't wait to share this with you all!!! http://www.pineconehill.com

The holidays will be here before you know it! I came across this lovely gift idea for us parents who have stacks of beautiful, original artwork from our children. This company will take your child's artwork and create a custom poster of their art that not only looks professional, it's really something special...great gift idea for the grandparents!!! http://www.zsquaredgraphics.com

Weird or Not?

by Mari Robeson in

Since I just showed you the cool LED attachment for your lav faucet I may as well continue with another entry to make your bathroom the shining star of your home. Check out this fish bowl toilet! I'd have to say this is a bit out there, even for me, but I love when designers think outside the box, or should I say outside the bowl? http://www.fishnflush.com

Light My Night!

by Mari Robeson in

I love HGTV. Their shows are a great resource for designers and the do-it-yourselfers. Sunday I was painting in my studio (a new piece of art for Central Coast Magazine) and watching, I Want That! They featured a faucet attachment that when the pressure of the water hits it, a LED light is activated. Talk about making it easy to get your kids to wash their hands! This faucet by KWC America retails for around $500, but according to the show, you can buy the LED attachment that just screws on for under $20. http://www.hgtv.com

Lighting Fantastic!

by Mari Robeson in

It's like Christmas at the Robeson house! Thanks to UPS I've been receiving deliveries for my new showroom daily! Today my lighting order from Maura Daniel came. I've been watching this LA based company grow for the past few years. I've been in love with their line since day one. Their designs are exquisite and the quality outstanding. I'm thrilled to be carrying them! You'll know what I mean when you see them in person! http://www.mauradaniel.com
Lot's of you have been asking when I'll be opening. I'm still waiting for the construction on the building to be complete. Today the status report was looking like early November...fingers crossed!!!

Fun in the UK!

by Mari Robeson in

Here's a fun UK website to check out. This lamp makes me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I actually really like this wall paper...here I go again on the wall paper thing... I guess I'm officially converted to a born again wallpaper gal. I could see doing one wall of a teen bedroom with the black & white chandelier and the other walls in hot pink or turquoise. Yum! I know my daughters would dig it with lots of black & white accents....too fun! http://www.hiddenartshop.com
Oh! BTW! I was correct about Design Star. David won and rightfully so!

Color Forecast!

by Mari Robeson in

Well, did you paint your bedroom the right color or are blues and browns no longer hip? Frankly, to me, it doesn't matter what the forecast is because if I like the color I'm going to paint it on the wall...now my husband, on the other hand, has just grown to accept this about me. Now he comes home and some room is another color or there's a mural painted in a niche and he just says, "That's nice Mari." and goes about the rest of his day...gotta' love that. But if you're not like me and would like to read the latest Color Forecast by Casual Living magazine, here you go!

Luscious Lavender!

by Mari Robeson in ,

Everyone who knows me knows that I love lavender. We grow it on our property and I use it in my collage sachets. So when I came across this lavender scented fabric I was delighted. What a great idea! They say the scent will last up to 10 washes. It would be ideal for an upholstered headboard, throw pillow, or what about a slip cover...the ideas are endless. Lots of fun fabrics at this site. Enjoy!
