I'm running out for the weekend when I see this Gorgeous Mood Board created by the ever so talented Designer, Abbe Fenimore, on her Weekend Window of her blog! I think it's just stunning how she put it all together! All of these items are available in her Shop! Have a great weekend everyone! I'll be on the soccer fields watching my kiddo and designing my new studio space!
Like most designers when I'm designing for my clients I look for inspiration & clues from their environments. In this case I was on a time crunch to make my clients room ready for visitors asap! I noticed she had 2 beautiful blue vases stored away and since I've been obsessed with these colors lately I knew I could build a room around them. Time was of the essence, and feeling inspired, I decided to paint these two watercolors for the room and now they are also available in my shop!
I'm currently in the process of making over many projects in my life, big & small. Including a new website, new catalog and also the interiors of parts of my home. We built our house ten or so years ago and it's time for an update! As I started to put together my ideas for *my* interior design project, a fun little spark of inspiration happened. As most of you know, I'm an illustrator too and I love, love, love that I can combine Interior Design with my passion for Graphics & Painting. That's how this Herme's Tray Print came about. These are the colors I'm wanting to incorporate into my new Living Room. What happenned next was really thrilling! After posting a quick pick on my Instagram I heard from many talented designers who wondered if I could do the same type of painting for them but with one of their designs...so let's just say for now that this is happening! (More on that soon!) So excited to share those collaborations with you! I was also really happy to see how many of you were interested in purchasing the prints! They are available in my shop and now I've also included notecards! There's so much to be thankful for this rainy Friday...most of all I'm Thankful for You! Make sure to check back in this weekend for my FREE March Desktop Wall Paper I designed for District17 & you! I think it's one of my absolute favorites!!!
It's been crazy, busy in the studio with lots of different collaborations going on! I'm so excited to be working with such amazing people! As I am writing Thank You notes to include with orders that are shipping out today, I just want to Thank all of you who follow me and show your support and especially to those of you who purchase my products. I can't even tell you how thankful I am for your on-going support! xoxo
On today's Monday Mood Board I'm wrapping up my series on How To Style A Tray for you Coffee Table. I put together this little watercolor painting to give you a few ideas on what you can use when you are creating your table top displays. First of all, make sure the items you collect bring you joy and make you smile. Think about height, layers & textures. I love books, as I mentioned before, because they tell people who you are. Stacks of books also make perfect pedestals for small objects like this fabulous Sphere or an aromatic Candle.
I believe that fresh flowers can actually shift the way you feel and turn a blah day into a fantastic day. I usually stock up on flowers at the local Farmer's Market but if arranging fresh flowers on a weekly basis feels like a daunting task to you, you could always consider a small plant or succulent.
Also, think about creative ways to display your flowers. I love the idea of repurposing used perfume bottles!
Small bowls, trays or decorative boxes are critical for me since I'm constantly misplacing my pens and reading glasses! This little zebra tray is just too adorable, well, only because it's not a real zebra skin, that's not adorable at all.
For real interest add something sculptural. I love, love, love these Agate Stones! They are not only sculptural but they bring in the element of nature. Keeping nature in mind, sea shells with candles is also a lovely idea. So there you have it! Ten simple & easy tips to bring some Happy into your Home!

A couple more thoughts about styling a tray for your coffee table:
Save your perfume bottles & use them for a vase. I just love this idea!
Add a quirky item like this Skull Candle from ZGallerie!
Keep matches in a decorative holder.
Add some sparkle, like this gorgeous Lollipop Agate Stone from ShopTen25.
Of course books, let guest know who you are & what you like. Surround yourself with as many as possible. Stacking books is a great way to add depth and dimension which creates a pleasing visual display.
Work with a color palette. Pink, Black & Gold is fun & sofisticated.
Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy!
Today's Monday Mood Board is "All In The Details". This week I'll be talking about ideas on how to style a tray. I'm freshening up my own interiors this year, starting with my Living Room. (More on that soon!) If you have no need to remodel your living space but want to change it up a little bit, here's a quick and easy way to brighten up your space. Simply change the decor on top of your coffee table.
Even though I have a separate studio space in my home, I spend a lot of time working on my lap top in my Living Room. Being a very visual person, my environment is very important to me. A vase of fresh flowers, a delicious smelling candle, books that inspire...these are all things I surround myself with because they make me happy.
I have a glass top coffee table. To make sure it doesn't get scratched I like to use trays. I have tons of them. I'm kind of obsessed with trays! I recently met @OohLaLaFinds via Instagram and fell in love with all their designer inspired trays! This Hermes inspired tray is divine! If you want a real Hermes, (I don't believe Hermes makes this actual tray any more), you may have to look at auction houses.
Here are my key ingredients to a fabulous coffee table tray:
A great smelling candle. One can't go wrong with Diptyque Candles.
With a great smelling candle you will need matches. Place wooded ones in a small jar or purchase ones like these from Design Darling where the packaging is simply adorable!
A gorgeous vase of fresh flowers like this one by Bungalow 5.
Small decorative boxes to store items like reading glasses or pens. This one is almost too pretty for that with the stunning agate stone on top!
Not included but just as important, are books! Books tell people who you are and what you are interested in. I love seeing what books people surround themselves with!
One side note: I'm pretty smitten with how this little painting came out and decided to offer it for sale in my shop if you're interested! Happy Styling! Check back later this week for more thoughts on Styling A Tray!

I can honestly say this was the busiest summer of my life! Between multiple interior design projects, new product development, and playing taxi cab to my three little lovelies, I can't believe I was able to squeeze it all in. So I'm super happy to announce that my newly remodeled shopping site is up and running...it still needs a little polishing but I'm happy for now. I hope you like it! Please feel free to check it out here and take a look at my new designs. I am so deeply grateful for the support I've received over the past few years so tomorrow I'm posting a very special Give Away just for you! <3
It's impossible to live with three teenage daughters and not be surrounded by glitter and make up! My girls have inspired my latest collection, Modern Glam! New pillows and prints that reflect a vintage and timeless feeling on fashion and home decor. I love old black and white movies portraying glamorous women living in a time when fashion and decor was so stunning! Those movies definitely influence my style in Interior Design. So when I found this gorgeous Tear Drop Mirror and Black Glass Desk from ShopTen25, I was inspired to put together this Monday's Mood Board on Modern Glamour! Enjoy!

This morning I'm catching up on some "Very Late" Birthday Thank You cards when I, once again, get distracted! My mother was so kind and generous this year (my father too) that she gave me her pearl necklace! It brings back so many happy memories of me thinking of how I had the most beautiful mom in the world. I would play with her jewelry and scraves and accessories for hours as a little girl pretending to be a movie star... hence the inspiration behing this Saturday morning sketch. xo
Last night was crazy in California...the power went out for over 145k households and we were one of them. What was amazing was the super moon! With no other lights in the skyline, the moon was brighter and more beautiful than ever. So I wasn't sure what I would wake up to and how that would effect my day but thanks to the hard work of PG&E the power is back on.
Prior to the power outage I was working on my Pink & Blue room design and came up with these fun guys. I posted a video clip on my Instagram feed of painting this little lovely. (Instagram now has video which is the coolest thing ever. I just wish there was a way to add music to it but I'm sure that's coming.) You can view the video on my FB Page or follow me on Instagram @MariRDesign. This is how my design evolved into this new print. I'm also kind of loving these blue dots by them selves...hmmm....I just may have to turn that into some fabric to play with.
Just yet another room design going over here at the studio. This one is a room for an aspiring fashion designer. I painted this little lovely today inspired by all the gorgeous models in the world! She is now a new print and pillow coming soon!
I've been having a lot of fun putting together this Parasol Room for my client. I've been busy painting away. I'm not saying these will all make the cut but it's a sneak peek into how my ideas are coming together. Hope everyone is off to a great start of the week! It's going to be another busy one here. :-)
Bedding is from The Land Of Nod. Paint color for walls Sherwin Williams Rhythmic Blue SW 6806
My projects have now overflowed onto my dining room table and with a big graduation party comng up, it's time to get organized!! Eeeek!
This week I worked on a design I'm calling my Parasol Room. It's pinks and blues and I'm pleased with how it's all coming together so far. I painted these yesterday but I'm still not quite sure if they will be fabric or pillows or prints And I still have a few more ideas swirling around....soooo stay tuned... Have a great weekend everyone!
