Oh Boy...I have a lot to say today. :-) First of all, I haven't posted in over a week because I had the very unfortunate experience of having my Mac laptop die on me...ugg...right at Christmas and property taxes...etc., etc, everyone's story, right? But it turned into an interesting chain of events.
I was reading on one of my favorite blogs about the 3/50 project. I mean what a great movement. Basically it states...
"The goal is simple: Ask consumers to frequent three local brick and mortar businesses they don’t want to see disappear, and to spend a very affordable $50 per month doing it.
Could be those three. Another three. Doesn’t matter. It’s about funneling revenue back into local business. You know-—the folks that pour money back into the community via commercial property taxes, payroll taxes, sales tax, and salaries (not to mention all that good will by way of volunteer time, silent auctions, sponsored softball teams, workshops, book signings, etc.)."
As a retailer, it's hit me as well...so I *really* appreciate all of you who frequent my shop!!!
But back to my laptop. I really can't function without it and knew I would have to bite the bullet and replace it right away...this will make sense I promise.
I always support the independent retailer when ever I can so I headed to see my friend Shane at the Mac Superstore. That's not the one in downtown SLO, this is the one off of Madonna road. I purchased a new MacBook. Love it!!! But here's the thing...not only did they credit me for a battery I recently purchased but they also offerd me a additional discount. I was really impressed with that...but Shane took it one step further and helped me tremendously with some of my programs...and more....
I am not sure, but I sincerely doubt I would receive that kind of service from a national chain. A huge thank you to Shane. I will always support them and I hope in the spirit of the 3/50 project you will support him too!
